Honestly nothing to complain about. Ideal hotel, amazingly kind and accommodating staff, stunning location on a very large pretty "creek. Modern and completely renovated units with a perfect view, comfortable beds, for example. The outdoor restaurant on the premises...

The hotel was located right by the waterfront, Miami, and a different beach. We got a room with walk-in showers. Besides, the location was unbeatable and easy for our stay, within 15 minutes' walk of an inner bank reef.

Very comfortable and modern room, with all amenities.
Breakfast was poor, with few options.

I liked the hotel, everything was great here. The breakfast was savoury and perfect, included toast, hot waffles and scrambled eggs. Friendly check-in was a bonus.

A great resort to relax after a long days drive, we drove from Orlando to Key West and stayed here one night on route. Would highly recommend the ground floor rooms with patio out onto the river, you also get a great sunset from these patio's. Food was great at this motel with a strong German theme. Rooms were large, clean and well air conditioned. All in all a great place if you want to relax or fish but little else around if staying longer than a couple of days.
Complementray coffee was welcomed in the morning but would be nice to have a kettle in the room as no other services were available outside of evening meal times.

Awesome spots for sunsets!
The tiki bar was chill. The food was cheap and decent, like my chicken philly for $12. Only thing was the service-kinda bland, no smiles or anything. Would've been better if there was a more lively atmosphere, especially for a Friday night.

We loved the ease of access, the waterfront, the Tiki bar(food and service and atmosphere and especially the live music) We found oyr room a bit shabby in appearance, but it was clean and everything- refrig. AC, shower- worked. We also enjoyed the food and service at the restaurant. Prices were very reasonable.
The rooms and pool area were shopworn, could be updated at least a bit.

Excellent waterfront location, basic, but cosy rooms, relaxed atmosphere, nice staff, good food. would return any time!
One employee at the adjoint beach bar tried to cheat w the bill and was rude at that.

The beach was pretty chill, and the tiki bar was hella fun! The vibe was super relaxed, and we loved lounging by the pool. We even spotted some dolphins while fishing from the docks!

Very well located, nice staff.
The hotel has some needs for refurbishing. The bathrooms are not in the best conditions anymore, the paint is rusty and crackling. All in all the installations seem pretty deteriorated. Is nothing you could not live with but, not really the best Value for your money.

Gilbert's is an old-style Keys hotel - nothing fancy, but relaxed and a fun place to stay. The tiki bar always had something going on, with plenty of tables to sit by the water and enjoy the breeze, and usually live music. The food was good and we loved the laid-back atmosphere. The beds aren't great and the window unit a/c was a bit annoying, but who spends a lot of time in the room anyway? We were tired enough by the end of the day to sleep just fine :) I initially thought I would be going alone, so I didn't want to be on the ground floor where people could walk by, but the ground floor rooms have nice patios with tables and a little more space for several people to hang out, right on the water. Second story has a nice view but not as much room outside.
Bed is just a mattress on plywood. Window unit a/c noisy.
